WOW!!! Sheyenne Shines for the 125th

February 9th, 2009 by Pastor Sharron

Thanks to all the wonderful folks in Sheyenne who contributed so much of their time, talent, energy, and effort to making this Landmark 125th Celebration a weekend to remember! Now that the event is over, we should all have some wonderful memories and a great foundation on which to build for more community activities.

There was something for everyone this weekend–marvelous food (barbeque, pancake brunch, turkey dinner, event concessions, and community potluck), an amazing fireworks show (thanks, David Wahlstrom!), music to cut a rug or shake a leg to (October Road & Rob Hendrickson), meaningful community worship, lots of conversation and memories at the reunion, fun at the Bull-o-rama and bingo, and tons of excitement at the derby (congrats, Elvis!). Thanks to Stan and Marilynn Kruger for hosting open house at the Sheyenne Depot on their farm. It was a treat to see the depot looking so spiffy and to see the wonderful history displays Stan and Marilynn prepared.

If you didn’t get to see the Children’s Theatre production of “This is a Test,” directed by Charlotte Franks-Erickson and starring some talented local youth, you really missed something. I continue to be amazed at the level and abundance of creativity and talent in this town. Way to go, Collin, Joanna, Maddie, Loren, Coltin, Brady, David, Sandra, Katherine, Shayla, Shantel, and Leah! I can’t wait to see your next production.

There are so many people who deserve thanks, but I’m afraid I’ll leave someone out, so just know that I appreciate this town and the people of Sheyenne so much! This truly is a great place to live, and the dedication and community spirit exhibited here are remarkable. I’m looking forward to seeing great strides in the next 25 years.
